Are you asking yourself, “this sounds familiar…what am I doing wrong?!” Maybe you have that lifted booty, but your workouts are becoming routine and starting to lose the burn. Or maybe you’re thinking, “gym?” When was the last time I stepped into a gym….?”

As a certified personal trainer, yoga junkie, and dancer for over ten years, this Viva O Sol lover can give you the lowdown on sculpting your BEST. BUTT. EVER. for 2018! The best part about working your glutes?? If you target these muscles, and squeeze, squeeze, squeeze, you’ll start to see results in no time! Now, let’s get to our “guaranteed to see results” BOOTY BOOTCAMP!!!

TIP: Repeat these exercises in succession for a total of three rounds.

Equipment needed: one 3-5lb weight

Squat Jumps/Jacks

*Starting with the feet together, jump up and out into a squat with the knees in line with the ankles.

*Hop back together to the starting position.

*Repeat for a total of 45 seconds.

TIP: To maintain proper form, ensure that the knees do not extend beyond the toes in the squat. Bring the weight on the heels, pushing the booty back as far as possible.

Weighted Donkey Kicks

*Start in the tabletop position with the shoulders in line with the wrists, and the knees underneath the hips.

*Keep your back straight and your abs and lower ribs laced in tight.

*Using a 3-5lb weight behind the knee, squeeze on the weight as you draw your right leg into your chest, and then kick that heel up toward the ceiling.

*Do as many reps as you can for 30 seconds, and then switch the weight to the left side.

*Complete both sides for 30 seconds each.

*3 sets total

Side Plank Hip Abduction

The Steps

*Come on the right forearm, keeping your shoulder in line with your elbow, and maintain a straight line with the body.

*Stack the left foot on top of the right.

-TO MODIFY THIS POSE: Bring the knee onto the floor, to give you more stability.

*Lift the left leg in line with your hip, and try to keep the hips lifting upward while extending the left leg up and back down toward the heel, or the floor if modifying this pose.

*After 30 seconds, switch to the left forearm and repeat this sequence.

*3 sets total.

Lunge Back Kick

*Starting in the central position with the feet together, take a big lunge back with the right leg.

Tip: Ensure that the knee remains in line with the ankle on the left side.

*Push off with the right foot and lean forward as you kick that left leg back, driving the left heel to the wall behind you.

*Return back to the lunge.

*Repeat this for 45 seconds, and then switch to the other side.

*3 sets total

Single Leg Bridges

*Starting in a supine bridge, begin to lift the hips as high as you can, keeping the knees in line with the ankles.

*Extend the right leg straight up toward the ceiling.

*Lacing the lower ribs together, lower the right leg, foot flexed, with the abs engaged.

-TIP: Make sure you are engaging the core, and there is NO backbending happening.

If you are backbending, the extending leg is too low; bring it up a few inches toward the ceiling.

*Keep the abs in tight as you bring the leg back up to the ceiling, and lower again.

*Keep the hips raised the entire time–EVEN WHEN YOU SWITCH SIDES.

*30 seconds on one leg, then switch to the other

*3 sets total

REMINDER: On exercises that switch sides, complete a full round on each side before moving onto the next exercise!!!
