Most people know that it’s important to stay hydrated, but they also know something else just as well, too: that the taste of water can be a little boring. A bottle of water when you obviously have thirst can be delicious but as a run of the mill addition to your diet? Eh, it’s not the most inspiring drink you could think up, is it?
Fortunately, we don’t have to rely on water to stay hydrated. While you’ll still want to drink it often, you’ll need it less once you make the following things part of your routine.
Fruits and Vegetables
Let’s not beat around the bush, here: eating is way more enjoyable than drinking. So what if instead of forcing yourself to down a glass of water, you could just whip up a delicious snack, instead?
There are plenty of foods that have high water content. Celery, tomatoes, spinach, and virtually all fruits – especially watermelon – have high water content. But the absolute best food for getting more water inside of your body is the cucumber.
For maximum effect, look at making cucumber water. It’s delicious, and supercharges the water! Eating slices naturally will also work well, too.
More Interesting Drinks
We mentioned cucumber water there, but that’s not the only drink you have to choose from. In any case, when you make cucumber water, you have to leave it for a while, and it’s not like you can carry it around with you all day. Milk, fruit juices, and coconut water are all excellent sources of water. If you’re one of those people that finds drinking water to be a bit of a chore, then switch to one of those options, and reward your taste buds.
Stop the Dehydration
Of course, it’s all good and well-taking steps to hydrate yourself, but a big part of making sure your body has all the water it needs is to stop the dehydration process for the first time.
Take a look at what you’re putting into your body: is it going to sap your body’s water content? Too much salty food – and that includes processed foods – will lead to that result. Perhaps the biggest cause of dehydration, however, is drinking too much alcohol.
You’ll have experienced the extreme edge of this dehydration if you’ve ever drunk too much and woken up with a dry mouth, but even just a couple of drinks will have a similar effect.
Moisturize the Skin
It’s worth remembering that you don’t just have to give your body water by putting things in your mouth, oh no. One of the most effective methods is to moisturize your skin. That’ll function as a way to hydrate your skin from the inside-out. Plus, your skin will feel and look smoother, too.
Soluble Vitamins
You can also supercharge your water by adding soluble multivitamins. It’s a bit like drinking water, but the water that is bona fide good for various aspects of your body. It’s a good incentive to drink a big glass of fluids in the morning.
