Eyes – Window to the World – “Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.” – Quote by Plato. The things which our mind perceives are firstly seen by the eyes. The eyes are not only the most beautiful but also the most delicate sensory organ of the body. The eyes require special care as the most sensitive part of our body. Healthy eyes give a good vision and a beautiful life full of colors blessed by God. And proper eyesight allows living a stress-free life without the irritation of contact lenses and spectacles.
As the sense of seeing is the base of most of our daily activities like reading, writing, selecting things, etc. so care of our eyes is vital for us. For keeping our eyes healthy we must spend time on proper cleaning, taking a Vitamin-rich diet, basic exercise, and protection.

Hygiene
To enhance the beauty of our eyes externally we normally do a lot of effort. Products like eyeliners and eye shadows are just good to emphasize your eyes. But their hygiene is a must. Washing your eyes frequently is a healthy habit. Splashing cold water in your eyes removes the strain and relaxes them.
Healthy Diet
A healthy diet gives you twinkling eyes. Diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, lutein, and vitamins C and E prevents vision problems that occur with age. For a healthy eye, one must take a regular diet containing green leafy vegetables like spinach, eggs, nuts, beans, kale, collards, oranges, and other citrus fruits or juices. Carotenoids like carrots, broccoli, etc. are converted into Vitamin A by our body which ward-off night blindness. A balanced diet maintains body weight which keeps you far from diseases like obesity and type 2 diabetes. Diabetes may cause blindness.
Protection
Sun’s Ultraviolet rays make your eyes more prone to macular degeneration and cataracts. One must select good sunglasses that obstruct UVA and UVB rays. Glasses close to the face protect the eyes from the side.
Exercise
Eyes do make a person presentable. So the fitness of eyes is worthy. For the sound health of the eyes, one must practice a few basic exercises like:
- Closing eyes tightly 3-4 times.
- Massaging your eyes gently.
- Pressing your eyelids lightly with three fingers.
- Roll your eyes clockwise and counterclockwise 5 times blinking in between.
- Try to focus on distant objects.
- Let your eyeballs swing in different directions and move them up and down and then left and right.
- End up your exercise by placing your palms on your eyes.
Modern lifestyles and hectic schedules drain out all the energy and life, leaving us exhausted and almost half dead at the day’s end. The way a refreshing drink soothes us, there has to be something that gives a chill and relaxation to our eyes. You can use clean cotton squeezed after being dipped in water by adding 3-4 drops of rose water to it. This will freshen up your eyes. Moreover, to reduce the puffiness of the eyes, cucumber works as a natural moisturizer. Being a vegetable with having higher water content, cucumber acts as an anti-inflammatory for the eyes. Two thick round slices of cucumber will leave you with healthy, smooth, and more hydrated skin around the eyes and comforting eyes. As Sparkling eyes reflect your energy. Let the eyes shine and smile.
