Best Time to Visit
In terms of the weather, Mar-May and Sept-Nov are the best months to visit Madrid. They’re the mildest times of the year. On our last trip, we visited Madrid in late April and the weather was perfect. It would be overcast on some days but it never rained. It wasn’t warm yet but we were fine getting around in just light jackets.
Traveling to Madrid
We took a bus to Madrid from Granada in southern Spain but there are several ways to get there depending on where you are. People flying into Madrid will be arriving at Madrid Airport, officially known as Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD). It’s located about 9 km (5.6 mi) northeast of central Madrid. There are several ways you can get to your hotel in the city center from the airport, including taking the metro, Renfe train, or Madrid Airport Express bus.

Madrid Airport also makes it easy to get to the city center, with a variety of public transportation options and a free shuttle bus between the terminals.
